NY Fashion Week - The best of

 Oggi è ufficialmente iniziato l'evento che aspetto sempre con impazienza: la settimana della moda milanese. 

Adoro il clima effervescente che si respira in città durante questi giorni. Giornalisti, blogger, modelle sempre di corsa tra una sfilata e l'altra sembrano gli abitanti di un minimondo che viene sempre visto con curiosità.

Quindi prima di cominciare a pubblicare resoconti delle giornate che mi aspettano (speriamo che il tempo ci assista) vorrei mostrarvi le sfilate di New York che mi hanno colpito di più. Ci tengo a sottolineare che si tratta di un gusto personale e che non ha nulla a che fare con l'importanza della griffe oppure il successo della sfilata stessa.

Today, the event that I always wait impatiently officially began: the Milan Fashion Week.

I love the atmosphere that surrounds the city during these days. Journalists, bloggers, models always run from a fashion show to another and they look like a microcosm often seen with curiosity by other people. 

So, before blogging about it I would like to show you the american fashion shows that I loved most. I want to highlight the fact that this post is based only on my personal opinion and not on the importance of the brand or the success of a single fashion show.

ALTUZARRA

Joseph Altuzarra mi ha colpito molto per la sua abilità di mescolare lo stile militare, uno dei trend per la prossima stagione, con elementi etnici tipici della cultura berbera: ecco che quindi comparire dettagli in lana pesante, fusciacche e cinture composte da piccole monetine come negli abiti delle danzatrici del ventre.

Joseph Altizarra caught my attention for his ability to mix the military style (one of the next season's trends) with ethnic details typical of the Berber culture: thick wools, sashes and little metal coins as in the traditional belly dancers' dresses.

  

   

   

BADGLEY MISCHKA

Atmosfere dark illuminate soltanto dai glitter degli abiti da sera, linee sinuose e trasparenze il tutto sottolineato da un make up molto marcato, soprattutto dai rossetti molto scuri.

Dark atmosphere with a glimpse of light thanks to sequined gowns, wiggly lines and transparencies. Everything is emphasized by a marked make-up especially on eyes and lips.

  

 

  

BEBE

Adoro questa collezione per i suoi evidenti riferimenti agli anni Quaranta, non solo nelle pettinature e nel trucco, ma nelle linee strizzate in vita, i pantaloni a sigaretta che lasciano scoperte le caviglie e le gonne al ginocchio fascianti che esaltano la figura femminile.

I love this collection because of its evident hints to the 40s. Not only the hairstyles or the make-up, but the small waistlines, slim fit pants that show off the calves and midi skirts that enhance the figure.

  

  

  

 

  

BLK DNM

Forse molti di voi troveranno questa collezione per niente particolare, ma a me è piaciuta proprio per la sua linearità e normalità. Dei look da copiare quotidianamente, anche per andare in ufficio.

Maybe many of view will judge this collection as "nothing special", but I loved it exactly for its simplicity. Looks that can be copied and used even to go to the office.

  

 

  

  

 

  

CARLOS MIELE

Anche in questo caso il mix con i dettagli etnici è ciò che mi ha colpito maggiormente. Questa volta il protagonista indiscusso è il Brazile, Paese di origine dello stilista, con il fascino del Rio Grande do Sul e delle moderne gauchas che calcano la passerelle.

Even in this case, what caught my attention is the mix with ethnic details. This time the indisputable protagonist is Brazil, the homeland of the designer, with the amazing charm of the Rio Grande do Sul and the modern "gauchas" that tread the catwalk.

  

  

  

 

CAROLINA HERRERA

Stile cupo e rigoroso per la prima parte della collezione che lascia spazio alla luce e al glamour degli abiti da sera presentati nella seconda parte. Il mio preferito è stato proprio quello viola.

Dark and rigorous style for the first part of the collection which give space to the light and glamour of the evening gowns showed in the second part. My favourite one is the violet one.

     

  

         

  

  

CHRISTIAN SIRIANO

La collezione si ispira ai pipistrelli rievocati grazie ad abiti, camicie e mini mantelline dalle maniche svolazzanti come le ali di questi protagonisti notturni. Immancabili gli abiti da sera ornati da metri di tulle e ricami preziosi.

The collection takes inspiration from bats: dresses, shirts and little caps with swirling sleeves that recall this nocturnal animal's wings. Evening gowns are wonderful as usual, embellished with metres of tulle and rich embroideries.

  

 

  

   

  

 DENNIS BASSO

Ricami, paillettes e tanta luce per gli abiti di Dennis Basso che si ispirano anche qui agli anni Cinquanta. Vite strizzate e gonne a ruota sono il tema ricorrente. Stupendo!

Embroideries, sequins and so much light for Dennis Basso's dresses that take inspiration from the 50s. Slim waistlines and flared skirts are the leitmotif. Wonderful!

  

 

  

 

  

DONNA KARAN

L'eterno conflitto fra maschile e femminile si rinnova nei completi giacca-pantalone e nelle linee austeree e iperfemminili degli abiti e delle gonne. Bianco, nero, grigio e rosso sono i colori principali.

The eternal conflict between masculine and feminine comes once again: suits and dresses with austere and ultra-feminine lines. White, grey, black and red are the main colours.

  

  

  

 

  

JASON WU

 Lo stilista rende omaggio alla ricchezza delle dinastie imperiali, il rigore dell'esercito e il glamour orientale negli Anni 40 di Marlene Dietrich in “Shanghai Express”. Un mix dal gusto orientale e incredibilmente elegante.

The designer pay homage to the richness of the Imperial dynasties, the strictness of the army and the oriental glamour of Marlene Dietrich in "Shanghai Express". A mix of oriental taste and incredibly elegant.

  

  

  

  

  

  

JENNY PACKHAM

Impossibile non amare questa collezione dai colori tenui e romantici che si mescolano abilmente a quelli più forti come il nero e il rosso, le linee fluide e i ricami preziosi. Il tutto con un tocco di eleganza tipicamente anni '40.

It's impossible not to love this collection based on light and romantic colours that mix together with stronger ones, such as black and red, fluid lines and rich embroideries. And of course, just a little touch of elegance typical of the 40s.

  

    

    

  

 

  

MONIQUE LHUILLER

Anche qui rosso nero e oro sono i colori principali e il richiamo all'Oriente è molto forte grazie alle stampe floreali su seta. Inoltre, trasparenze e spacchi creano un effetto vedo-non-vedo di grande sensualità.

Red, black and gold are the main colours here too. The reference to the Far East is absolutely evident thanks to floral prints on silk. Moreover, transparencies and slashes create a real sensual "now you see me, now you don't" effect.

  

  

 

PRETE & BRUNO

Qui invece si cambia completamente colore e si passa al verde smeraldo abbinato al nero. Un contrasto molto elegante sottolineato dalle linee degli abiti.

Here the colours change radically turning into emerald green mixed with black: a very elegant effect stressed by dresses' lines.

  

  

  

RACHEL ZOE

Non saprei come definire questa collezione, ma di sicuro non la si può accusare di monotonia. Elegante, fresca, romantica e assolutamente portabile nonostante sia basata sui contrasti.

I don't know how to define this collection, but it can be accused of monotony for sure! Elegant, fresh, romantic and absolutely wearable even if it is based on contrasts.

  

  

SACHIN + BABI

La pelle viene presentata in combinazione con altri tessuti più leggeri come il jersey creando un mix convincente. Ecco dunque che le linee morbide degli abiti acquistano una grinta maggiore proprio grazie alle pelli di  colori e stampe differenti.

Leather is used in combination with other softer textiles such as jersey creating a good mix. So, here we can find fluid lines of dresses which become stronger thanks to leather presented in different colours and prints.

  

  

  

 ZAC POSEN

  

Per chiudere in bellezza, non potevo che scegliere il mio preferito: Zac Posen. Sinonimo di eleganza, sensualità, ma soprattutto femminilità allo stato puro.

Non ci sono molte parole per descriverlo quindi lascio parlare le immagini che si riferiscono alla sfilata della sua prima linea e a "Z spoke by Zac Posen".

To finish in the best way, I cannot forget my favourite one: Zac Posen. His collections are a synonim of elegance, sensuality, but most of all, femininity.
There are no words to describe it, so I prefer to leave you with this wonderful images which refer to the fashion show of Pozen's main line and the "Z spoke by Zac Posen".
